It's said "love makes the world go round," but more often it is opposition that drives historical developments. Great contests make for great history. In politics, in art, on the battlefield, it's been when competing individuals or movements have gone head-to-head that sparks fly. In this summer series, Dr. Bruce Elliott (UC Berkeley) each week will shine a theatrical spotlight on another of the outstanding contests in Western history. |
